Where art and literature meet
The MNAC and Barcelona Libraries podcast
Where art and literature meet
Seven episodes explore how a writer’s gaze can transform the way we approach a work of art. This is the premise of the podcast, a joint production by the MNAC and Barcelona Libraries.
In each episode, an author presents an original text written in response to a work from the Museum’s collection. That text becomes the starting point for a conversation with a specialist, recorded in front of the chosen piece in the Museum galleries. The dialogue moves beyond the specific painting or sculpture, opening out towards literature, creativity and life, building unexpected bridges between disciplines and experiences.
The podcast is available on the MNAC+ Channel and on Ràdio Maconda, the community station run by Barcelona Libraries, based at the Gabriel García Márquez Library. In addition to the conversations, each episode includes a reading of the original text by its author, recorded in the radio studio.
Look, listen and read
You’ll find videos of the encounters between writers and specialists from the Museum, offering a visual experience of the dialogue. What’s more, the full texts that inspired each episode are available to read at your own pace, allowing you to form your own connection with the work.
In short, this is a project that celebrates the meeting of two creative languages – the word and the image – and that invites the public to look, listen and read with fresh sensitivity.
