Valadon’s Montmartre
Suzanne Valadon’s personal and artistic ecosystem was the Montmartre of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Valadon saw it evolve from ‘ground zero’ of artistic modernity to the beginning of the avant-garde, a neighbourhood that would become a melting pot of styles that Valadon got to know first-hand. There she coincided with Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec and Degas, who became her mentor and collected her work.
