Charles Clifford

Charles Clifford was one of the first photographers to visually document changing landscapes and cities. The British photographer is one of the big names of the 19th century in the MNAC photography collection. This picture shows Barcelona’s Montjuïc castle, in the distance, like a lighthouse for this city constrained by two walls, one around it and, behind that, the wall of the sea. A city that no longer exists, but still resonates with us. A city that inspired Pol Guasch to write these poems on the need we all feel for a home, for love.
