“The choreography chiefly came from the main figure in the piece: Federico García Lorca, one of the most celebrated poets of all time. We were inspired by the sharp, linear forms, and the harsh hands and other elements in the painting. The first part draws from one of the poet’s most important pieces. The second refers to his assassination during the Spanish Civil War, so it is much more violent and aggressive.”
