Natura Centrum Est. Oval Camp
Championing nature at the MNAC with Marcel·lí Antúnez Roca.
In recent years, Marcel·lí Antúnez has shifted his practice towards a collaborative, celebratory art committed to defending a natural world often forgotten by society. In Natura Centrum Est, the artist presents the outcome of work carried out with a range of groups and organisations to advocate for environmentalism, agrarian culture and new ways of reconnecting with the land.
The installation takes the form of an open camp, a space to wander freely among backdrops, objects and figures emerging from these collective actions. Its elements include the towering 12‑metre‑high figure of Vulcan, the eyelid backdrops and the giant drawings that, like in a pop‑up book, change appearance as they open and close, inviting visitors to discover them in motion.
